Based out of Iowa City, Molly Ringwald, members Jake Mathiesen and Dustin Hamnes decided on a change of musical directions, veering away from their Modest Mouse and At-the-Drive-In influence toward a folkier, pop-tinged, back porch aesthetic. The result was Safe Words.
